Thursday September 2, 2010 Meeting

 

The meeting began 7:30 a.m. with Dave Carter leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and recitation of the Four Way Test.  Marv Reitz gave the invocation.

 

Members Buzz Althoen, Dave Carter, Bob Holzrichter, John Peterson, Monica Phillip, and Marv Reitz were present.  Buzz collected $2 from all members.

 

There were no visiting Rotarians or other guests today.

 

There was no speaker today.  General club business and other matters were discussed.

 

New Website

 

John Peterson announced that he has set up a new club URL.  It will be milwaukeenorthsunrise.org.

 

Announcements

 

Buzz Althoen announced he is leaving for Massachusetts after the meeting to deliver a car to his daughter.  Bob Holzrichter said his son will be getting Bob’s father’s car.

 

Monica Phillip had an enjoyable time at Wisconsin Dells this past week.  She and her friends also visited Circus World Museum in Baraboo.

 

General Liability Insurance

 

Rotary.org website has general liability insurance information provided U.S. Rotary clubs for the policy year July 2010-2011.

 

Collection for Veterans

 

Saturday, October 2 will be our second collection for veterans at Fox Point Farmers' Market. 

 

Membership Drive

 

Thursday, October 21 will be our membership drive for potential new members meeting at Sprecher Brewing.  Dave Carter will ask the President of North Shore Rotary Club if they wish to join us in this event. Fred Langer has to confirm the date with Sprecher Brewing and Jim Bartos has to arrange a speaker.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

 

We sang happy Birthday to John Peterson who will be celebrating his birthday this coming Saturday, September 4.

 

Jim and Julie Bartos celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary September 1.  August 27 Monica Phillip achieved 17 years of Rotary membership.  Bob Holzrichter’s 12th anniversary and Fred Langer’s 17th year since joining Rotary was yesterday, September 1.

Raffle

 

Monica Phillip’s raffle ticket was drawn.  She drew the winning white marble. Buzz gave her a down payment of $14.  She will receive the $14 balance of her winnings at next week’s meeting. Next week there will be ten blue marbles and one white marble in the bucket.  The person having the winning raffle ticket will receive $10 if he or she picks the white marble.
